We planned our digipak, firstly by researching
and discussing our likes and dislike. We decided that purple would be our main
colour as it would match the title and also from research we will put the
protagonist Bella’s Face on the album. This is an important part of the
production process as this will advertise the music.
For the front cover of our album cover, we decided to have a
medium close up of the protagonist’s face place in the centre of the frame. Bella
will be looking straight into the camera and will show very little expression
on her face for a powerful effect. To make the cover more unique and eye
catching, she will have a purple and pink paint splatter over one half of her
body/face to add contrast. The luminous purple lit background links to the ‘hit
single’, our music video. We will use a spot light on the protagonist’s face in
order to add definition and improve the quality of the image. ‘Jerry Folk’, the
artists name, will be placed along Bella’s chest in his generic font in black
to make it stand out. The black font will match the black in the protagonists
clothing. To finish front panel, we will add the title of the album ‘Purple
Feelings’ along the top in a bold white font to stand out upon the purple lit
background.
The side panel will carry on the purple luminous background
and some faint paint splatter effects. ‘Purple Feelings’ will be written down
the side in the same front and colour used on the front panel. The word ‘Purple’
will be written in a slightly bolder font than ‘Feelings’ as we decided that is
was a softer word that connotes more emotion than ‘Purple’.
For the back panel of our digipak, we decided to use the same luminous
gradient on the front panel of fading white to purple to add continuity. Starting
in the top left corner, we will list the songs included in the album. This text
will be white and in the same font to the once used for the title. The colour
of text will remain white as we decided this tone looked the most aesthetically
pleasing upon the purple background. There will be a smaller medium close up of
the protagonist’s face in the bottom right of the panel. This will be a side/diagonal
shot of Bella’s face showing both paint and pure skin. Just like other albums,
the barcode for sales and company logos will be found on the bottom left of the
frame. This will make our album cover look authentic.
The inside of the digipak has 2 parts, the disk and inside
cover.
The inside of the album will be plain luminous purple, created
in post-production, with a gradient of white in the centre fading out steeply
to purple. A paint splatter/explosion effect will be seen on one half of the panel on top of the
background to continue our paint theme. No text will be found on this part of the pack.
The disk will be constant with the other panel backgrounds with pink and purple powder paint effects
upon it like Bella has on her face. This will filter down the disk from the
centre hole which will keep the theme going throughout the whole digipak. The name
of the album and artist will be applied to the top half of the disk in the
centre and will be in the same font as used on the front, however, the text
will be in a matching purple colour instead of white and this will add contrast
to the disk and cover.
