Props Research

Props are normally  a key part of any media production, especially in performance style music videos as they will use instruments and microphones. However, ours is a concept video and therefore we only added props to create realism and effect on the protagonist to keep the viewer engaged.

Our music video doesn’t contain many props as they aren’t needed. The cast will have a dance bag each which would include a water bottle, mobile phone, headphones, possibly hoodies etc. However, these objects would not necessarily be featured or highlighted during the music video, only bags over shoulders or water bottles in the back ground. These objects add realism to the setting which makes the video more personal to the audience and look less staged.

Fluorescent lighting is one of the main features of this music video. This will be used regularly in the shot where Bella is scene lip syncing and we will either be using potable lights that we can purchase online or projector which we can use at school. The use of bright lights is a convention of music videos of this genre and would also make the shots pop. These lights will create a clubbing atmosphere which is associated with dance and therefore will encourage people get up and join in with the song. We got our inspiration from the ‘ghosting effect’ used in Calvin Harris’ ‘How Deep is Your Love’.
