We have chosen the song
‘Lose it’ remixed by Jerry Folk, originally created by Oh Wonder who are a London-based alt-pop
duo, consisting of Josephine Vander Gucht and Anthony West. Folk’s version is relaxed however has a good up
beat rhythm that can be danced to but also easy to listen to on loop. He does
this through keeping the chorus fast paced and dip/slow down the verses
cleverly without corrupting the flow of the song. ‘Lose it’ is very catchy and
unpredictable and can be listened to at a variety of occasions but isn’t too
popular and there isn’t over played by radio stations making it a more
pleasurable and long-lasting track. I like this quality as, personally, I like
a song for a while and get bored due to overuse, however, this one is memorable
and makes me want to sing along at both home and out which is a quality that
Jerry Folk aspires by.
Synesthesia: a sensation produced in one modality when a stimulus is applied to another modality, as when the hearing of a certain sound induces the visualisation of a certain colour. The advancement of MRI machines in the 90s, made it clear that, for some, listening to headphones would not only trigger blood flow in the part of our brains that deals with sound, but the part that involves sight as well. Some artist claim to have chromesthesia (sound to colour) where as other don’t want to tell as they didn’t want people to think that this special gift was the sole basis for their talent and that practice wasn’t needed. Most artists use their condition as inspiration of songs and music videos.
